DeafBlind Potter Mission
DeafBlind Potter is a suicide prevention ministry dedicated to helping people find hope in Jesus and choose life. Through the art of pottery and the sharing of the Gospel, we reach those in their darkest moments to remind them they have a purpose. We are looking for a Content & Ministry Assistant who is not only a hard worker but is deeply aligned with our mission of faith and hope.
Position Overview
This is an in-person role designed to help the ministry grow through content creation, live events, and daily operational support. You will be the “eyes and ears” behind the scenes, helping to bridge the gap between the pottery studio and a global community.
Core Responsibilities
- Content Production: Film Bible studies, “Daily Life Lessons,” and Q&A sessions. Manage lighting, audio, and camera angles.
- Social Media & Shopify: Execute posting schedules across platforms and manage the Shopify store (uploading new pottery, descriptions, and inventory).
- Event & Travel Support: Provide logistical support for speaking engagements and travel. Handle setup/breakdown for pop-up events and manage audience flow.
- Sighted Guide & Navigation: Act as a Sighted Guide in various environments (studios, airports, event venues) and provide real-time environmental descriptions.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This role is physically demanding and requires a high level of comfort with close-proximity interaction:
- Heavy Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs independently and up to 200 lbs with assistance (moving clay, equipment, and event supplies).
- Physical Proximity & Touch: Must be comfortable with Sighted Guide techniques and Protactile communication. This involves the creator touching your arm, shoulder, or hand for guidance and communication.
- Travel: Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be willing to travel for ministry opportunities.
Qualifications & Faith Alignment
- Faith Commitment: You must be comfortable with the Bible and the teachings of Jesus being the central focus of all content. This is a ministry helping people come closer to Jesus.
- Ministry Heart: A genuine passion for suicide prevention and helping people find hope in Christ.
- Technical Skill: Comfortable filming with a phone or camera and following creative direction.
- Communication: Excellent verbal skills. Note: ASL is not required for this position; communication is spoken and tactile.
Ideal Person
The right person is dependable, flexible, and spiritually grounded. You are a “servant-leader” who is comfortable with physical work and personal proximity, knowing that your support is a direct contribution to saving lives and sharing the Gospel.
