The Good Potter: Inspiring Lives through the Art of Pottery

What Does the Good Potter  Experience  Look Like?

The Story Of The Good Potter

Join Kelvin Crosby, also known as the DeafBlind Potter, for an unforgettable and inspiring performance with “The Good Potter.” Kelvin combines his exceptional pottery skills with a powerful motivational speech to inspire and uplift your audience. Using his travel pottery wheel, Kelvin creates a unique vase, symbolizing the beauty in imperfection and the potential for personal transformation.

Kelvin shares his deeply personal journey, illustrating how God has been the potter in his life. He takes the audience through some of the most challenging times he has faced, including childhood suicide attempts, struggles with DeafBlindness, and addiction to pornography. Through his testimony, Kelvin shows how God has shaped him despite these battles, turning his struggles into strength. Kelvin will also take you on a journey through how he lives out Romans 5:3-4 in his life, demonstrating how perseverance produces character and hope.

How Does This Work

In a perfect world, Kelvin prefers to use a Shimpo Whisper pottery wheel. Kelvin has a wheel ready to be shipped or picked up to take to your event. Below are three options to handle the pottery wheel logistics:

Option 1: Shipping

  • Details: Includes shipping costs for both delivery and return.
  • Weight: 190 pounds (plus 25 pounds if clay is included).
  • Dimensions: 30 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 22 inches high.
  • Note: This must be shipped by freight.

Option 2: Pickup and Return

  • Details: Arrange for someone to pick up the wheel from San Diego and return it after the event.

Option 3: Local Wheel

  • Details: Find a suitable wheel locally.
  • Acceptable Brands: Clay Bot, Brent, Soldner, Shimpo, Bailey, Skutt, Speedball, and Laguna.
  • Requirements: Must be an electric wheel with at least .5 horsepower and capable of handling more than 30 pounds of clay.

Kelvin ensures minimal mess by laying down a plastic tarp and only throwing one piece during the presentation. The clay used is recycled for future events unless arrangements are made for finishing the piece locally. Note that the piece created during the event does not feature Kelvin’s glazing designs.

Kelvin’s speaking fee is $2,000, plus travel and the selected pottery wheel option. To schedule Kelvin to speak or for more information, email lbl@deafblindpotter.com or call 858-207-3311.
